So my 3 year old wanted Dora underwear, instead of his usual Thomas brand. Not being one to stand in his way of happiness, we go get a Dora package. The 2/3T ones looked…small. I glance at the back. 2T/3T weight is 20-27 pounds. That’s odd, I think, because his Thomas 3T underwear fit okay. 3T in BOYS underwear goes up to 32 pounds, and 2T starts at 26. So girl children are supposed to be ALREADY a third of their weight lighter than boy children. Because we need to start fat shaming the next generation AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
ETA: And just for all of you who think it’s silly to be angry because omg!genetics:
According to the CDC, here: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nhsr/nhsr010.pdf male bodied children at age 2 & 3 have a mean mass of 14.1 & 15.8 kilograms, respectively. Female bodied children at the age 2 & 3 have a mean mass of 13.4 & 15.8 kilograms, respectively.
So two year old females are on average .7 kg (or 1.54 pounds) lighter, and 3 year olds are the same weight. I hope that numbers will put to rest your presumptions that “girls are genetically smaller than boys.” The SIX pound difference in boy and girl toddler clothing has no scientific basis and it a creation of the clothing industry, not genes.
